World Affairs Council General Membership Rules
Eligibility for Membership
Membership is open to individuals and organizations who are committed to the Council’s mission of fostering global understanding and engagement. Membership categories may include students, individuals, families, corporations, and nonprofits.Annual Membership Fees
Membership fees are set annually and must be paid in full to maintain active status. The Council reserves the right to adjust fees based on membership type and tier.Code of Conduct
Members are expected to conduct themselves with integrity and respect at all Council events and activities, promoting civil discourse and fostering an inclusive environment for all participants.Event Participation
Membership grants access to various Council events, including speaker series, panels, and networking sessions. Certain events may require separate registration and additional fees, which will be communicated in advance.Membership Renewal
Membership is valid for one year from the date of registration. Members will receive renewal reminders before their membership expires. Failure to renew within 30 days of expiration will result in the loss of membership benefits.Non-Transferable Membership
Membership is individual or organizational and is non-transferable, unless specifically purchased as a gift or for a charity event. Organizational memberships may designate a representative to receive membership benefits, but this must be specified upon registration.Discounts and Special Offers
Members may receive discounts on ticketed events, merchandise, or educational programs. Discounts cannot be combined with other offers unless specifically stated.Termination of Membership
The Council reserves the right to terminate the membership of individuals or organizations who engage in behavior that is harmful to the organization or inconsistent with its mission. Termination decisions will be made at the discretion of the board and are final.Refund Policy
Membership fees are non-refundable, except in extenuating circumstances, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Members who are terminated due to misconduct are not eligible for a refund.Use of Membership Benefits
Members must actively use their benefits within the membership period. Unused benefits, such as event tickets or discounts, cannot be rolled over to the next membership year.Privacy and Data Protection
The Council respects the privacy of its members and will not share personal information with third parties without consent. Members can opt out of newsletters or communications at any time by contacting the Council.Amendments to Membership Rules
The Council reserves the right to amend or update these rules as necessary to reflect changes in policy or governance. Members will be notified of any significant changes.Dispute Resolution
Any disputes related to membership, fees, or benefits will be addressed through the Council’s internal dispute resolution process. Members can submit concerns in writing to the President for review.
