WAC Explores Global Hot Topics with 2023 World In Transition Series
(Louisville, Ky). September 12, 2023 - From climate changes to new technology, the World Affairs Council of Kentucky & S. Indiana (WAC) will explore hot topics that are currently impacting international relations with its 2023 World In Transition series. The series features leading experts who will share their take on how these changes impact the way we govern and work with other countries and what it could specifically mean for Louisville and S. Indiana residents.
“This speaker series focuses on some of the biggest global issues that are the next frontiers of international cooperation and conflict. How we address them will have a significant impact at the local level,” said WAC Executive Director Xiao Yin Zhao. “Through these programs, local residents and professionals can connect and learn the latest developments from experts while exchanging ideas with peers.”
This year’s World in Transition series will tackle three cutting-edge themes: Climate Change, AI/Cyber/Technology, and Space. The first World In Transition event, “Climate Change & Conflict: Security Risks of Global Warming,” will be held on September 26, 2023, at 5 p.m. at the University Club of Louisville (200 E Brandeis Ave, Louisville, KY 40208) and feature Dr. Tegan Blaine, the Director of Climate, Environment, and Conflict at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP). Dr. Blaine will speak to a variety of topics, including climate-induced migration, Kentucky’s transition from mining, and what the future may hold in terms of climate and US security.
